H. S. Ayoub is a dentist and historian of medicine. However, being a bibliophile bordering on bibliomania, his deepest love is that of the printed word. He finds meditative comfort in the company of books.
Dr. Ayoub strongly believes that a refocus on the humanities and the arts as part of the education of healthcare professionals can aid in the elevation of empathy and humanitarianism in the understanding of others and the treatment of patients.
It is the hope that the H. S. Ayoub Library of Dentistry & Medicine can help motivate the current and future generations of medical professionals to dive into the history of their profession, to learn not only of the technical innovations produced by our predecessors, but to also appreciate the social interaction that people and places have had with our profession throughout history.
